England week 2 May 18 – May 23

We made our way to London Sunday night, where we had a little supper and headed to bed for an early start.¬† Andy was off for a meeting and I was left to my own devices. Bright and early… around 9am ūüôā I headed out to catch the 381 to the London Bridge tube station and then the Northern Line to Camden.

I did make my way there and¬†had my wander even though it was raining lightly.¬† Sat at a Chinese food both and took advantage of the free WFI and catch up with emails. I then set out to look for Shawn the sheep. ( a fundraiser for Children’s Hospitals) pix to be posted..

I caught the 381 bus via the grocery store for supper.¬† I ended up running into a neighbour of Andy’s who gave me a ride back to the house.. (lucky me..don’t think I could find the bus stop back..lol)

The next day ,Tuesday, was another early morning as we were off to Sudbury.  Andy had another meeting and I was left to wander the streets of Sudbury.

I did take a wander around and found some really nice old houses as well as a fabric mill.  Wished I had a pattern to sew so I could go fabric shopping.lol

oh yes there were a fair amount of seniors wandering around.. and they have their wheels decked out..lol

I did have a nice chat with the lady in the shop and then headed back to a café I noticed for some lunch.  I did make it back to the car before the rain started.  It did not last long but when it rained, it rained.

After Andy’s meeting we were on the road back to Sheffield.

It was scenic drive back… we hit rain off and on along the way…

Back in Sheffield … time to make dinner, unpack the car and get ready for another day.

Wednesday was a slow day .. not sure if the jet lag or road trip caught up with me..

Thursday¬†was a more productive day… headed out the check out the little shops down the road.. well more like a 30 min walk – a lot of hills, most were down ..thank goodness.¬†¬† Gave the garden a water and got tea ready for my hard working man.. <3.¬† After tea it was visit the Andy’s Mum’s house and then to the shops for groceries..

Friday – my day will be productive – garden, dust, and then off to the Cow and Calf for tea.¬† NOTE – Kent had an earthquake 4.1… maybe that is why I was off a couple days ago..

Not sure what is on the agenda for the weekend but I am sure a hike will be involved as long as it does not rain…

Hugs with Love… –

PS – cleaned out the garage… soon will be learning how to sell on Ebay.. lol

England week 1 May 11 to May 17

Let the adventure begin… and off to the garden I go..

To let myself get settled I decided to enjoy the greenery of the garden.. there were a few weeds that meet their maker that day.. lol  I am very surprised the amount of slugs and shells that occupy such a small space.. you kind of get used to seeing them and they are not much of a bother after.

The weather has been nice but windy.. I am waiting for the temperature to rise a little so that the wind wont be as cold but there is time to warm up  ..it is only Spring.

The one thing that throws me off right now is how daylight it is at 7am.  The days are longer with sunset about 830p.  Waiting to see how long it will stay daylight in the evening.

Thursday was get myself sorted for the weekend away to Bristol and London.. Road trip no. 1.¬† The departure time for Friday 6am…so 5am wakeup wont be too bad.

The drive  was only 3 hours.  Learning to read and understand the roadmap was my job as co-pilot and is not bad once you get the hang of it.  And tah-dah we are in Bristol.

The Old Manor House was a 17C hotel …and was so cool.. 2 night stay while we explored the harbour and area.

Check out that tub… was nice for a little soak….

We caught the bus down to the harbour where we wandered around Friday afternoon. We found a few things to check out for Saturday as well as a little climb on the mast of the SS Great Britain.  Cant wait!

We had a nice dinner of fish and chip in the hotel after a long day of driving.

Saturday was started off with a hearty breakfast and a bus ride to the harbour.

We did a little wander along the harbour and decided to take a little ride on a tug boat named John King… this tug towed the SS Great Britain into Bristol in the 70s.¬† The tug is maintained and run by volunteers.. really nice people.

We also did out climb up the mast of the SS Great Britain… wow what a view and a test of nerves.¬† I also wanted to do something adventurous with Andy.,. he climbed on to the arm of the mast.. I was not that brave..

2015 May 264¬†this is the SS Great Britain.¬† The¬†middle of the mast is where Andy and I climbed.. he wandered out on the side of the mast to the right.. Brave man he is.. It was truly fun and thought that maybe one day I would try rock climbing.. maybe….lol

We had a great day in Bristol and even hit a few markets and pubs along the way back to the hotel.

We headed off to London on Sunday via a very nice route..

The route ended up going past Stonehenge.  We stopped to experience and hear the commentary on how they think Stonehenge come to be.  It was a great experience and was surreal to see these stones from many years ago standing tall.

We also drove past the White horse which was made in the side of a hill.  The white is the chalk slate which is plentiful in these parts.
